Masala Burgers with Yogurt-Mint Sauce

Want a simple and healthy dinner?  Try these Masala Burgers with Yogurt-Mint Sauce.

To start, heat a pan with 1Tbs of oil on med-high heat and then add:
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 serrano chilies seeded and diced
  • 1 carrot grated
 Fry until onions are tender 3-5 minutes the add:
  • 1 Tbs of grated ginger
  • 3 cloves of garlic grated 
Fry for another 1-2 minutes. 


Now add the dry spices:
  • 1 tsp of garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp of ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp of turmeric
  • salt as desired
Fry for another minute until the spices become fragrant.  Then turn off the stove and allow mixture to cool down.

    Once the masala mixture has cooled down add it to:
    • 2lbs of your favorite ground meat.  I used ground chicken.  
    • 2 Tbs of plain yogurt
    • Salt and Pepper to taste 
    Mix well and make your desired size of burger.


    Fry burgers on a griddle or skillet until cooked through.










    The Yogurt-Mint Sauce:
    1 cup plain yogurt
    1 small handful of minted chopped
    1/2 tsp of ground cumin
    juice of half a lime or full lime if it's not too juicy
    salt to taste
    Stir well and allow to chill for a few minutes before serving.

    Makes 8-10 burgers.  Garnish with thick sliced cucumbers and the yogurt sauce on a bun or inside a pita.    Serve with a salad or fresh vegetables. Enjoy.
